Courses & Experience Days

SCULLING EXPERIENCE

This is a Sculling Experience for adults new to sculling (rowing) and runs during the summer in small groups of 4 students over 5 days. The week begins on indoor rowing machines in the gym to pick up basic rowing techniques before rowing with blades (sculling oars) in the indoor tank to refine technique.  Weather permitting, you will be out on the river in a stable single scull to learn to steer and turn, as well as practicing the inevitable/mandatory capsize drill! The Sculling Experience Week is a prerequisite to the Adult Learn to Row crew course which is the pathway to MBC membership and the Explore rowing group.

Learn to Row CREWED Course

The adult crewed courses run late summer/early autumn and participants need to have completed the Sculling Experience at MBC or have sculling experience from another club. The LTR course involves rowing as part of a crew, learning navigation and safety on our stretch of the Thames, and how to cox a boat with confidence. The group meets twice a week on Sundays mornings and Wednesdays evenings. At the end of the course there is a sculling, coxing and safety assessment. Those who pass the course and wish to continue rowing will be invited to join Molesey Boat Club as a member and start rowing with the Explore group.

If the Sculling Experience or Adult Learn to Row (LTR) course interests you please register your interest. We'll be in touch when we have confirmed dates and you will be invited to the club for a brief chat prior to booking

A great team of experienced coaches will lead you through the basics of crewed rowing but please note that both the Sculling Experience Week and Adult Learn to Row courses are run based on coaching availability, and the availability of spaces for progression into the Explore Group.

Please hit the button below and fill in our online enquiry form and we'll be in touch when we set dates for the next round of courses.
