What would you do if somebody’s heart stopped? We’re asking all colleagues to take just 15 minutes to learn lifesaving CPR with the British Heart Foundation’s new RevivR tool. A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time – at home, work, or out in public. There are over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every year in the UK and tragically, less than one in ten people survive. Every minute without CPR or defibrillation can reduce the chances of survival by up to 10 per cent. The effective use of CPR and a defibrillator can more than double a person’s chances of survival in some cases. And we know lives have been saved following interventions by colleagues in other organisations trained in CPR, who witnessed cardiac arrests and stepped in.
The BHF want to triple survival rates by 2030 and by learning CPR, we can help them achieve that. Giving CPR and using a defibrillator can more than double the chances of survival; RevivR will teach you how to recognise a cardiac arrest, give you live feedback as you practise chest compressions and show you how to use a defibrillator. The training is easy, free and quick - all you need is your mobile phone and a cushion; in 15 minutes, you’ll have the confidence to step in and save a life in an emergency. You never know when you might need to help save a life, but taking just 15 minutes to learn now will mean you’re ready for that day. The training can be taken an unlimited number of times and we want as many of our colleagues to learn these lifesaving skills as possible.
