SAFETY AT MOLESEY
MBC SAFETY MISSION
Safety is No1. Every member should be able to train and row without coming to any harm.
We target zero injuries requiring anything more than simple first aid.
This is based on reducing the level of risk generally and number of near misses. We will do this by openly looking at incidents and root causes; what should be learned and changed in future.
We recognise that rowing is an outdoor sport with weather risk, we row on a river with current and there is collision risk with boat traffic. We have risk based Safety Navigation Policy that must be followed and allows competent rowers to train safely, concentrate on rowing, worry less about incident and get faster.
It supports supports a culture of excellence and high performance. We follow training plans and we follow the rules.
We aim to give rowers the information and training they need to row safely. You should familiarise yourself with all of these before steering or coxing at Molesey.
